Stanley Thomas Myles was born on August 20, 1947, in Lamesa Texas. He attended Texas Tech University from 1965 to 1968. While at Tech he was active in the Delta Phi Epsilon fraternity, the Texas Student Education Association, Phi Alpha Theta and the Young Democrats. He graduated in 1968 with a BA in History and Political Science. Myles began his service in Vietnam in April 1969. While in Vietnam he worked with the 20th Engineer Battalion as a radio operator, generator mechanic and mine sweeper. He completed his service in March of 1970 and earned the Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Vietnam Service Medals. He has one child, Lee Ellen Myles.
